DAMMAM: A goat wandered away from its owner in Dammam and ended up in police custody, according to yesterday’s Al-Yaum newspaper. Unfortunately for the guys at the precinct who booked the animal and placed it in a cell, the goat was quite the conversationalist; its constant braying put some of the cops on edge. Fortunately for the goat and its owner, one officer happened to live on a farm and volunteered to care for the animal until its owner could be found.

Domestic tremors for polygamous men

MADINAH: The recent evacuations in Al-Ais due to seismic activity has led to a logistical hassle involving men with more than one wife. In many cases, polygamous men must accommodate their spouses separately lest the ladies annoy each other. The Civil Defense has allotted one emergency shelter per family, but men with more than one wife have complained they cannot accommodate their ladies in the same shelters. Perhaps understanding the domestic problems among competing wives, the Civil Defense has been allotting some men a separate shelter for each spouse.

Good job, madam ... but ban will stay

MAHD AL-DAHAB: When the driver of a busload of women teachers stopped for prayer, a scorpion stung the 70-year-old man. According to yesterday’s Al-Madinah newspaper, one of the teachers took the initiative to drive the old man to hospital. Suffice to say that despite ban on women driving, most people in the Kingdom would probably have no problem with this, inshaAllah.
