RIYADH: Riyadh police announced on Friday they have two suspects in custody in the murder of a 65-year-old Saudi whose body was put in the boot of his car that was ditched in a remote desert location.
Following a missing-person report by the dead man’s 27-year-old son, police opened an investigation.
The son said his father was last seen driving away in his white 1996 Lexus and had not visited any known friends or relatives.
Following a series of interviews with friends and relatives of the man, authorities identified and detained two brothers in their 30s who had a undisclosed dispute with the victim.
The suspects reportedly confessed to carjacking and murdering the man and led police to the body.
Authorities did not say when the crime was committed, but said the body, which had been wrapped in a tarp and placed in the boot of the vehicle, was in a state of advanced decomposition.
The case has been transferred to the General Prosecution and Investigation Commission to prosecute the suspects.
