Black Mongoose rules 9th PGTF event

RIYADH: Black Mongoose Megaforce International Association headed by founder/director Armando Dacumos and overall director of Riyadh Chapter, Laudencio Rodico, emerged overall champion in the Philippine Global Taekwondo Federation (PGTF) 9th Open Invitational Martial Arts Tournament at the Philippine Embassy, Liwasang Bonifacio Quadrangle here.

Vice Consul Paulo V. Saret was the chief guest of this event which attracted several martial arts group. In his inspirational message, he said he was so impressed by the initiatives of the Filipino martial arts community in Riyadh for creating such groups. He emphasized further the values of martial arts where self confidence, self discipline and self esteem are the keys in learning self defense.

PhilGlobal Taekwondo Federation President Alan Borjal revealed that one of the group’s priorities is to recruit more female athletes in order to have all-female and children martial arts competition in the Kingdom in the future.

The awardees in the Kumite competition were: Kids Division — 7 years old Girl, Yara Al Saud (Al Manahil Club); 5 to 6 years old Boys Adrian Emmanuel Viray, second place; Mohammed Abdullah (Global Taekwondo Flying Tiger); 7 years old Boy, Abdullah Al Ghamdi (Divine Punch), second place (Sebastian Ruf Global Taekwondo); 8 to 10 years old Boys Nawaf Abdullah (United Heroes); 8 to 10 years old Green Belt Division Bandan Aliwa (United Heroes); 11 to 12 years old Boys Suleiman Al Jebri (United Heroes); 13 years old Boy Amjel Mitra (Flying Tigers), second place; Adnan Yousef (Global Taekwondo); Girls 10-12 years old Nermi Bantus (Flying Tigers); 15 to 16 years old Denny Jay Horneja (Flying Tigers); Brown Belt Sarah Ibrahim (Flying Tigers) Green Belt Light Weight Division Edgardo Espiritu (Desert Falcon/Black Mongoose); Middle Weight Division Jerry Buan; Green Belt Heavy Weight Division Larry Paredes (Mortal Combat); Brown Belt Adult Light Weight Division Leonardo Elardo (Black Mongoose); Brown Heavy Weight Division Roberto Ortiz (Desert Falcon/ Black Mongoose); Black Belt Benjie Galvez (Kuntaw) and None Filipino Hani Al Obeid (United Heroes).

In the Kata competition, the awardees were: Kids, Elmer Maliwanag (Desert Falcon); Girls, Rosette Millare (Speed Punch); Boys, Abdulrahman Ashraf Nashaet (Kuntaw); Adult Green, Arnel Maitim (Desert Falcon/Black Mongoose); Adult Brown, Leonardo Elardo (Desert Falcon/ Black Mongoose); Adult Black, Ricardo Geneta (Kuntaw); Black Belt Ladies Special Bout, Mary Gani (Mortal Combat) and Mendussa Majida T. Francisco (Black Python) and Special Awards, Jackylyn Sanchez (Al Manahil Club) and Al Manahil Club — Diplomatic Quarter.
