The Noir models strode onto the catwalk wearing nothing but black lingerie and then dressed each other to the sultry music of songs such as "Fever."
Noir designer and founder Peter Ingwersen said the idea was to stage a reverse striptease show. "I wanted to show the most tasty way of getting dressed, but as aesthetically as possible," Ingwersen said at the fashion week, which runs until Sunday.
Danish actress Ellen Hillingsoe, in the audience, said she loved the idea of combining a fashion show with a glimpse of what young girls' boudoirs may look like. "They are dressing each other but we don't really know what will happen," Hillingsoe said. "It sets the imagination going and that's art."
As with earlier collections, Ingwersen was inspired this season by his love for the Victorian age and rock 'n' roll, but half the collection was made from the label's fair trade products and organic cotton from Uganda.
The Noir spring/summer 2010 collection, which is hitting the shops now, is only the second collection to use organic fabrics and it has been a big success, Ingwersen said.
"Although there is a financial crisis on, people are ready to say 'Yes, this is something we want to do,'" he said.
Noir also plans to sell their organic cotton to other fashion groups, and the interest has been substantial, though so far no concrete deals have been signed, Ingwersen said.
"We have seen the largest demand from the furniture industry. Architects, furniture designers asking Noir to make organic fabrics for them," he said.
Hotel groups and companies have also requested organic fabrics for bed linen and clothes, he added.
"But our own industry comes back to us and says it is very interesting, but you have to lower the prices. Perhaps because the fashion industry has been hit the hardest (by the recession)," said Ingwersen."
