Burney said that the Ansar Burney Trust will never allow the government to do politics even on condemned prisoners and will never allow the government to do such nonsense. He said that now what the government would like to do dirty politics even on condemned prisoners and would like to convert death sentences only of its choices.
A former Federal minister for human rights, Burney demanded that there should be no discrimination in converting the death sentences into life imprisonment and all death sentences, including of two Indian nationals, Sarabjeet Singh and Karpal Singh, should be converted into life imprisonment as earlier announced by Prime Minister Yousuf Reza Geelani.
Burney said that of the estimated 7,300, including women and children, condemned prisoners in Pakistani jails, the majority were either innocent or were victims of a faulty justice system.
