Seminar offers tips to prevent cancer

The appeal was made at an event titled “Cancer Could be Prevented” — organized by the Public Health Department — at the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.
Speakers stressed the importance of physical exercise and shedding weight to reduce the chances of getting cancer.
“Fats have a direct link with many types of cancers,” one of the speakers said.
Topics included ways of avoiding cancer, colon cancer, bone marrow transfer in cancer treatment, breast cancer and its incidence in the Kingdom, methods of early detection of mouth cancer, types of cancer that affect the nervous system, and the hazards of ultraviolet rays.
Speakers included Dr. Amal Al-Olwani, director of public health; Dr. Yusuf Al-Boq, consultant for general surgery; Dr. Hanan Al-Harbi, consultant for tumors and blood diseases at Ohod Hospital in Madinah; Dr. Hani Fahmi, consultant surgeon at the Medical Center; Dr. Rami Saab, consultant surgeon; and Dr. Nabih Bajunaid, neurology consultant.
The event was also attended by Director General of General Services at the Royal Commission Yusuf Al-Hujaili.
