JIT is a newly established technical institute near Lucknow in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Ahmed said JIT’s decision to offer seats to non-resident Indians (NRIs) and also to Saudis and other foreign nationals was a welcome step.
Those interested may contact him on [email protected] by April 6 at the latest, he said, adding interested candidates in Riyadh, Dammam, Jubail and other places may also contact him for arranging the test in their respective areas.
JIT is a Muslim minority institution set up by US-based Muslims working under the banner of Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC).
Its chairman Manzoor Ghori said that admission would be given only on merit during a visit to Jeddah last week. Successful candidates will have to pay only the fee set by the Indian government. No donation and no hidden charges will be demanded.
JIT is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU).
IMRC plans to convert JIT into a private university with tie-ups with prestigious American institutions. Ghori said JIT was fully equipped with facilities comparable to any other top level institution in India. Special provisions for NRIs as well as Saudi and foreign students have been made, he added.
Ghori said a separate hostel for girls has been built and provisions have been made to receive and drop girls at Lucknow airport, where international flights land.
