Prince Alwaleed honored at Abu Dhabi CSR conference

The event was held under the patronage of the Representative for the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, who is also chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority.The prince was accompanied by the foundation’s secretary general Muna Abu Sulayman, among others.Prince Alwaleed was recognized for his role in helping to alleviate the suffering of the poor worldwide as well as supporting social care programs.Queen Rania of Jordan also received an award at the event. The late Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan was honored and his brother Sheikh Hamed received the award on his behalf.The event also brought together intellectuals, ministers and governmental officials and business leaders to provide an ideal platform for discussing social responsibility principles.Following the event, Prince Alwaleed attended a luncheon held in his honor.The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation is the third foundation set up by Prince Alwaleed. It aims to encourage and support organizations, studies, and academic centers focusing on empowering Saudi women, as well as alleviate poverty and other social infrastructure issues. The foundation is also directly involved in major projects that provide direct aid to the citizens of Saudi Arabia, such as a housing project where hundreds of homes have been provided to poor families as part of a 10-year plan. The prince was recently featured among Islamica Magazine’s 500 Most Influential Muslims List in 2009.
