The society also announced the launch of its fourth charity health project targeting people suffering from kidney failure in Jeddah.
Mazin Batterji, the president of Al-Birr Charitable Society, said the shelter took five years to establish at a cost of SR30 million. A third of the money was a donation from Abdullah Al-Bar, who named it after his late wife. The 5,000-square-meter compound is located on three main streets.
The society also managed to aid 788 child beggars. The society provided them with food, clothing and health care. The society helped 712 children return to their home countries in cooperation with the concerned authorities in the Kingdom.
