The police said the thief was taken to Al-Malaz police station for further investigation.
Riyadh police spokesman Lt. Col. Sami ibn Muhammad Al-Shiwairikh warned citizens and expatriates from leaving the engines of their cars on, even if they were near to their vehicles.
The spokesman told Arab News he was unable to identify the thief at this time but said he had stolen a Caprice, Camry and Yaris.
He said the owner of the Yaris car had left the engine on at Salahuddin street in Al-Malaz. When he returned he found that the vehicle had been stolen.
He said the other two cars were stolen after the thief hit them from behind.
The spokesman said investigations had proved that the thief had used the same ploy to steal the cars and was therefore responsible for all three crimes.
