Kendrick (5-4) surrendered seven runs in five innings, coughing up a 4-2 lead as the Phillies lost for the fourth time in five games.
Pujols hit his 22nd homer and first since the All-Star break for a 5-4 lead. Pujols also doubled and had a run-scoring groundout.
Marlins 9 Rockies 8: At Miami, pinch-hitter Donnie Murphy hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning for the Marlins.
It was the fifth lead change in the game. All-Star starter Ubaldo Jimenez departed trailing after his shortest outing of the season, but Jonathan Herrera hit his first career homer to put the Rockies ahead 8-7 in the eighth inning.
After Rockies closer Huston Street (1-2) retired the first two batters in the ninth, Dan Uggla walked. Murphy — batting for only the fourth time this season — homered on a 1-0 pitch.
The Rockies’ earlier comeback kept alive a nine-game winning streak for Jimenez (15-1).
Jimenez twice failed to protect a lead. His final pitch was rookie Mike Stanton’s three-run homer that put Florida ahead 6-4.
Jimenez allowed six runs, four earned, in 5 1-3 innings and has an ERA of 6.39 in his past five starts.
Jhan Marinez (1-0) earned his first major league win.
Reds 7 Nationals 2: At Cincinnati, Johnny Cueto pitched six innings around a rain delay and drove home two runs for Cincinnati.
The Nationals had been blanked in their last two games. The Reds had been shut out in three of their last five, all by 1-0 scores.
Brewers 3 Pirates 1: At Pittsburgh, Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks hit home runs for the second consecutive game for Milwaukee and Chris Capuano won for the first time in more than three years.
Weeks homered for the third time in two days to extend his club record for homers by a second baseman to 18. Fielder took over sole possession of the NL home run lead with his 23rd for the Brewers, who have won six of their past eight.
Making his second start since the end of the 2007 season, Capuano (1-1) broke a franchise record 13-game losing streak by allowing a run, three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
Capuano, who missed the past two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery, hadn’t won since May 13, 2007.
Todd Coffey , Zach Braddock , Kameron Loe and John Axford combined for four shutout innings of relief. Axford earned his 12th save in as many opportunities.
Astros 11 Cubs 5: At Chicago, Jason Castro hit a three-run homer and Carlos Lee had a two-run double in Chicago’s five-run first inning.
Wandy Rodriguez (7-11) gave up five runs in six innings but earned the win because the Astros spotted him an 8-0 lead.
Hunter Pence had a two-run single in the first inning and Chris Johnson hit a two-run shot in the seventh for his first major league homer and finished a double short of the cycle.
Carlos Silva’s slide after starting the season 8-0 with a 2.93 ERA continued. He was tagged for five runs, seven hits and two walks in one inning. In his last two starts, Silva (9-4) has allowed 11 runs over 2 1-3 innings.
Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run homer and Tyler Colvin added a solo shot in the sixth inning for the Cubs, who are 15-26 against NL Central divisional opponents.
Diamondbacks 13 Mets 2: At Phoenix, Arizona chased Mike Pelfrey after 1 1-3 innings and Mark Reynolds drove in four runs with a triple and his 21st home run.
Pelfrey (10-5) threw 74 pitches, 51 in the first inning, in the shortest outing of his career. He allowed six runs and seven hits. After starting the season 9-1, the right-hander is 1-4 with 9.11 ERA in his last six starts. Pelfrey is 0-5 in six career starts against the Diamondbacks.
Justin Upton had two RBIs with a double and triple as Arizona amassed a season-high 18 hits.
The Mets have lost four of their first five on an 11-game post-All-Star break trip to the West and seven of nine overall.
Ian Kennedy (5-7) gave up a run and four hits through five innings to win his second straight decision after losing his previous four.
Giants 5 Dodgers 2: At Los Angeles, Nate Schierholtz hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for San Francisco, keeping Los Angeles winless since the All-Star break.
The Giants’ 10th win in their last 12 games moved them past Colorado into second place in the NL West, four games behind idle San Diego.
The Dodgers have lost five straight, including a four-game sweep at St. Louis, since the break and seven of their last 11. They dominated the Giants in the first half, winning five of six, including a three-game sweep last month in San Francisco.
Madison Bumgarner (3-2) allowed two runs and six hits in 5 2-3 innings. He struck out three and walked two. Brian Wilson pitched the ninth, loading the bases with two outs before striking out Casey Blake to earn his 26th save in 28 chances.
