The creation of Pakistan was the triumph of a democratic idea. The faith of the people in Pakistan had made the idea possible, and their free acceptance of the leadership of the Quaid-e-Azam enabled them to achieve it.
The Quaid-e-Azam had the resources of his own spirit and the trust of the people to his leadership. With these intellectual and moral weapons he won Pakistan for his people. All Pakistanis are profoundly grateful to him.
Pakistanis this day make a pledge that — irrespective of religion, color, race, tribe or language — they will uphold Quaid-e- Azam’s principles of unity, faith and discipline that helped to transform Pakistan into a strong and modern Islamic state.
Today, unfortunately Pakistan is passing through a difficult phase of its history. We are fighting terrorism and extremism to build Pakistan on the Islamic principles of universal brotherhood and tolerance as envisioned by the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Pakistan has been severely affected by unprecedented floods caused by heavy rains. It has led to tragic loss of human lives and crops, besides widespread loss of property, livestock and infrastructure.
Entire towns and villages have been washed out, leading to displacement of millions of people.
The government of Pakistan has been making all-out efforts to provide relief to the affected people, but the enormity of the floods is so huge that it calls for assistance and support from the overseas Pakistanis and international community.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) based in the Prime Minster’s Secretariat in Islamabad is coordinating the rescue and relief operations. Pakistani community members, Saudi donors, NGOs and philanthropists are requested to come forward in this hour of need and help in the relief activities in Pakistan.
We are thankful to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and his government for their valuable support to the flood-affected people in Pakistan. Saudi Arabia was among the foremost countries that announced immediate assistance for the flood victims thanks to its strategic and close friendship to Pakistan
In the end, I would like to urge upon all my Pakistani brothers and sisters residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to work for the economic and social development of the Kingdom and use their influence for further strengthening and deepening the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
