The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) ended 1.06 percent down at 6,122.63 points, dragged by banks and petrochemicals shares.
Riyad Bank shares dropped 3.62 percent to SR26.60, and SABB bank shares fell 2.22 percent to SR44, while Al-Rajhi Bank shares declined 0.97 percent to SR76.50 and Banque Saudi Fransi shares declined 1.38 percent to SR42.90.
Heavyweight Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) shares edged down by 0.29 percent to SR85.75 and Saudi Fertilizers Co. shares dropped 1.48 percent to SR133.50.
The sector activity for the day was highly negative with all sectors closing with losses ranging from 0.10 percent by the Cement sector to 1.48 percent by the Industrial Investment sector. The overall market breadth for the day also remained heavily negative with only 19 advancers against 115 decliners giving it an AD ratio of 0.165, the Financial Transaction House (FTH) said in its daily market commentary.
The market liquidity for the day reached SR4.12 billion as compared to Wednesday's liquidity of SR2.73 billion.
