The opening ceremony was held at the Equestrian Club in King Fahd Park. Apart from spectacular fireworks and laser shows, the program includes folk dances by troupes from different parts of the Kingdom.
Welcoming the gathering, Madinah Mayor Abdul Aziz Al-Hosain thanked Prince Abdul Aziz for taking time to participate in the celebrations by the city’s people.
He said a variety of programs have been arranged to mark Eid Al-Fitr.
“This is the first time we are holding such a grand program during the Eid.”
A number of entertainment programs, including car shows, have been planned at Prince Muhammad Sports City.
Hundreds of prizes will be given away to participants through a raffle, Al-Hosain said. “Entries to the program will be free of charge,” the mayor said.
Ten days of televised competitions starting on Tuesday will be one of the highlights of the Eid program.
There will also be displays of remote-controlled planes and low-flying helicopters.
“This is the first time such an air show is going to be organized in Madinah,” Al-Hosain told reporters.
On the occasion of the National Day a number of attractive cultural programs and competitions are planned.
Special Eid programs have been planned for women at Aliya market. There will be poem recitations by famous female poets Eida Al-Johani and Mastoura Al-Ahmadi.
“We have distributed about 100,000 copies of a directory of Eid activities to inform the public about the schedule of activities and their venue,” said Al-Hosain.
