The sentence was reportedly issued by presiding judge Sheikh Mutraf Al-Bishr at the general court of Qatif in the Eastern Province. The report did not identify the students but said they were both 18 years of age. The two youths reportedly jumped over a school wall and entered one of the offices. While they were trying to steal the papers, a school guard spotted them and they fled. The guard informed police, who later arrested them and referred them to the court after questioning. The school was not identified, nor is it clear exactly when the incident happened.
