The meeting was co-chaired by Saudi Transport Minister
Jabara Al-Seraisry and Jordanian Minister of Trade and Industry Amer Hadidi.
The two countries agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in
the trade, economic and investment spheres, and pledged coordination on world,
regional and Arab forums in such a manner that fulfilled their common interest.
The two sides agreed to continue discussion on a technical
cooperation protocol between the investment establishments in the two
countries.
They also agreed to delay the conclusion of an agreement for
encouragement and protection of investments until finalizing the pan-Arab
investment accord that has been ratified by all Arab countries within the
framework of the Arab League.
The Saudi side promised to study proposals for concluding
agreements with Jordan in the spheres of competitiveness, protection of
national industrial production, customs, and insurance.
The two countries expressed satisfaction over the volume of
trade in crude and oil derivatives and welcomed joint efforts to sign a
technical cooperation agreement in the sphere of renewable energy and
conservation of energy between the two countries.
The Saudi side promised to study complaints raised by the
Jordanian delegation over obstacles facing the Jordanian private sector in
trade with Saudi Arabia, particularly the slow clearance of goods exported to
the Saudi market, which Jordanians said caused damage to perishable items that
sit many hours in the sun while awaiting clearance.
On the sidelines of the meeting of the Saudi-Jordanian
Commission, the two countries agreed to set up a joint Saudi Jordanian firm for
agricultural transport with a capital of SR250 million, according to Mohammad
bin Abdul Aziz Al-Oudeh, who led the Saudi delegation to the Joint
Saudi-Jordanian Business Council, which also held a parallel meeting in Amman.
