The prayers were held Friday in dozens of mosques across Lebanon, which is witnessing one of its worst droughts in decades.
At the towering Mohammed Al-Amin Mosque in downtown Beirut, Grand Mufti Mohammed Rashid Kabbani, the spiritual leader of Lebanon’s Sunni Muslims, led the prayers attended by hundreds of people.
The rainy season usually begins in Lebanon in November, but there has been almost no rain this year. The drought has damaged the country’s agriculture and contributed to forest fires.
