The accused, Gajender, was a resident of Uttar
Pradesh and pretended to be an orphan before Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Delhi,
at a railway station in Kanpur, six years back.
"Kumar took pity on the
boy and brought him to his home in Delhi and treated him like his son," a
police officer said.
Gradually, the accused started assisting Kumar in his
catering business and was entrusted to collect payments from clients. But after
years of nurturing, Gajender betrayed Kumar Jan 1 and fled with his Hyundai i10
car, a gold bracelet gifted to him by the victim and the cash collected on that
night, police said. Gajender was arrested Friday.
The car and the bracelet were
recovered from him.
