Founded in the northern city of Najran in 2006, the university sprawls over 18 million square meters and is the country’s largest by area.
The university complex has two campuses separately for men and women and will also bring under its jurisdiction 25 colleges with an overall capacity of 45,000 students.
The campus will also house administrative buildings, a medical city, a research center, sports facilities and accommodation for faculty members and students.
Future investments include a five-star hotel, commercial centers and private schools.
The construction of a substation which would help meet the growing demand for electricity and support the expansion of Najran University will be undertaken by ABB, the leading power and automation technology group in the Kingdom.
ABB will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 380kV substation capable of distributing power at 132 kV and 13.8 kV.
