“The election timeline provides features of a road map which will guide the NEC in delivering requirements of the elections. This will allow the NEC to measure its performance in running the elections in consistence with a time-based performance indicators,” he added.
According to the NEC, the preliminary list of candidates will be announced on 20th August. Then there will be two days to file objections against any contesting candidate.
Currently Abu Dhabi and Dubai have eight elected members in the FNC. Sharjah and Ras Al-Khaimah have six members each while Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al-Quwain have got four members each. A total 40 members were elected during 2006 FNC election.
