“This forum will be attended by 150 owners of private museums in the Kingdom along with a number of SCTA officials and KSU staff members,” Ali Al-Ghabban, vice president of SCTA for antiquities and museums, said in a statement.
He said the forum aims to bring together museum owners in the Kingdom, SCTA officials and authorities in related fields to exchange experience and make them aware of SCTA’s plans for private museums.
“The forum participants will also be able to boost their experience regarding heritage and artifacts preservation and the proper ways of displaying them,” he said.
He added that invitations will be sent to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Saudi Credit and Saving Bank, King Abdul Aziz Library and King Abdul Aziz Dara.
The forum is in support of national efforts for the development and promotion of national museums in the Kingdom.
Earlier, SCTA Chairman Prince Sultan bin Salman announced that the commission was carrying out a comprehensive development and rehabilitation program in all national museums.
The SCTA had signed contracts worth around SR145 million for the construction of four new provincial museums in Baha, Tabuk, Hail and Dammam, to be completed in two years' time.
The SCTA was also working to establish a museum for Islamic and National Heritage in Jeddah and a museum of the Holy Qur'an in Madinah, which will be executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Dawa and Guidance, and the Madinah governorate.
