Opening a judicial seminar titled Causes of Judicial Verdicts here, he also noted the distinguished features of Islamic law as well as the ability of Saudi judges to deal with modern developments. Speaking about cases related to terrorism and state security, the minister said there are Shariah laws that incriminate persons involved in such crimes. He disclosed the ministry’s plan to publish the laws related to terrorism and state security shortly.
He emphasized the importance of the seminar in boosting the Kingdom’s justice system.
“If the evidence or causes of verdicts are weak, its responsibility will be limited to the source of the evidence and not at all on the Shariah law,” he explained.
Al-Eissa said Saudi judges are well-versed in Islamic law and jurisprudence — the basics for a sound judicial system.
He said defendants have the right to oppose the causes or the evidence on the basis of which the court issued verdicts against them. It is the duty of the judge to explain the reasons for the verdict.
