Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions has a “go big” strategy for its 2011 television product line-up. The company has introduced a huge 92-inch 3D DLP Home Cinema TV as the flagship display device in its Diamond 840 Series. Mitsubishi believes that, “Bigger is better, especially as 3D captures the imagination and passion of consumers who want more from their TV viewing.” Mitsubishi’s 92-inch 3D DLP Home Cinema TV offers four times the viewing area of a 46-inch LCD TV, and Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology is remarkably fast, providing for a more realistic, immersive 3D viewing experience. The TV includes a Clear Contrast Screen that mitigates ambient light through a specially-formulated screen material to deliver deep blacks, bright whites and a wide range of colors in between. The Diamond 840 Series’ integrated Immersive Sound Technology (IST) 16-speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system delivers perfectly balanced home theater audio, without the need for separate components. Paired with a wireless sub-woofer, consumers can create 3D for their ears. The TV is equipped with wireless Internet capability and can be controlled with an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Note that Active Shutter 3D glasses with matching synchronization emitter or DLP Link Active Shutter 3D glasses are required in order to view 3D content. The 92-inch Home Cinema TV retails for $6,000.

From Kingston Digital comes the Wi-Drive, built to address the ever-increasing storage needs of Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users (www.kingston.com/flash/wi_drive.asp). Wi-Drive, a wireless, portable storage solution, allows users to expand the number of documents, images, music and video files they can access from Apple devices. The combination of this storage expansion, file sharing and a rugged portable form factor makes it a great companion device. Wi-Drive, along with its app from the App Store, allows users to stream videos, access music or share files with other Apple device owners. The pocket-sized Wi-Drive utilizes Flash-based technology to store data from USB-compatible PCs. These files are then easily retrieved via Wi-Drive’s built-in wireless signal without requiring cables or an Internet connection. Three users can work simultaneously with different file types from a single Wi-Drive without any performance disruption. The Wi-Drive will be available later this month in both 16GB ($ 130) and 32GB ($175) versions.
