The High Commission for the Development of Riyadh has made seating arrangement for 700 people at the Qasr Al-Hukm. The commission is organizing activities at 40 different locations for the celebrations ranging from fireworks and local folklore dances. According to Abdurahman Al-Dugaither, administration director of the Governance Palace, special tents have been set up for participants.
In his statement Saleh Al-Osaimi, acting director of traffic in Riyadh, said his department’s strategy includes among others early deployment of officers from 3 a.m. on Eid day. He said more would be deployed in areas where Eid prayers are taking place.
They will also be deployed along main roads and at exit points to manage traffic. Undercover police will be on patrol. The airport roads will also be monitored ahead of the expected rush at King Khaled International Airport.
Al-Osaimi advised drivers to cooperate and observe the traffic guidelines to ensure the celebrations are a joyful and pleasant experience. As part of the Riyadh municipality’s preparation 2,390 decorations have been fixed on the capital’s main roads to make the nights bright and enjoyable.
Monday night there was a noticeable rush on Riyadh’s main roads, especially near big shopping malls, as many people tried to complete their shopping for Eid.
Acting Riyadh Gov. Prince Sattam will be performing the Eid Al-Fitr prayer along with other princes and officials at Imam Turki Mosque at Qasr Al-Hukm. He will also receive well wishers after Maghreb prayers.
Prince Sattam will join citizens and expatriates in their celebrations at the Qasr Al-Hukm grounds and at the Diplomatic Quarter.
