“The five suspects are believed to have formed a gang to commit illegal criminal activities in the city. The suspects are all of Yemeni nationality, and all carry no legal documents or hold legal status to stay in the country. The gang’s operations allegedly included breaking into several homes and apartments after breaking house windows or climbing to balconies to steal goods,” said Jeddah police spokesman Brig. Misfer Al-Juaid.
Al-Juaid said several calls were made to the south Jeddah police department from the victims reporting several break-ins where various items had been stolen including jewelry and electronic devices worth more than SR50,000.
Al-Juaid cited a particular case where a man working as a security guard came forward to the police department claiming a break-in at his apartment where his computer along with several items were stolen.
“Jeddah police investigators with the cooperation of secret police were able to identify and arrest five individuals. The suspects are aged between 19 to 25 and are at currently in police custody,” said Al-Juaid.
