“The development of Wadi Batha is in harmony with its environmental characteristics as this valley represents one of the natural drainage systems for flood waters in Riyadh,” a spokesman of the Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) said on Sunday.
The ADA is the executive branch of the HCDA.
About 30 percent of the project has been completed. The project, which is part of the program to develop Wadi Hanifa, is expected to be completed next year.
The project extends from the water reprocessing plant in the north of the city to Fatah Road in the south.
The spokesman said the project aims to preserve the valley’s environmental elements, remove traces of pollution and raise its urban value in addition to preparing the valley as a natural drainage system for rainwater.
The project consists of cleaning work, removing weeds, building a road to ease traffic, installing guide signs, regenerating the bottom of the valley and planting grass and shrubs.
“The project will contribute to halting environment deterioration in the valley, curb health hazards and raise the level of traffic safety in Wadi Hanifa,” the spokesman added.
