RIM contacted Arab News to announce a selection of BlackBerry top applications worth more than $100 would be offered free of charge to subscribers in Saudi Arabia as an expression of appreciation for their patience during the recent service blackout.
“We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience,” said RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis. “We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.”
Applications such as SIMS 3, Bejeweled, Photo Editor Ultimate, iSpeech Translator Pro and DriveSafe.ly Pro will be available to customers on Oct. 19 on the BlackBerry App World service and will continue to be available until Dec. 31.
RIM will also offer enterprise customers one month’s worth of free technical support, while existing subscribers will be offered a one-month extension. Customers who do not currently have a contract will be offered a complimentary one-month trial of RIM’s BlackBerry technical support services.
