Speaking to Arab News, Luke Newcomb, executive vice president and general manager of Mustang Al-Hejailan Dar PI, said the new entity unites nearly 500 people into a synergistic company providing additional training and employment for Saudi nationals while transforming into a leading in-Kingdom engineering and project management service provider. Mustang is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. With $5.5 billion in revenue, it has 35,000 employees worldwide and operates in 50countries around the globe. It is traded on the London Stock Exchange.
"Mustang-HDP is in the final stages of completing the registration process to initiate work under a five-year general engineering services contract awarded by Saudi Aramco as part of its general engineering services (GES+) initiative," said Newcomb. "This contract, with three, optional one-year extensions, affords Mustang-HDP the opportunity to provide front-end engineering, procurement and project management services to Saudi Aramco and Saudi Aramco JV companies servicing the industrial, pipeline, automation security and telecom, and hydrocarbon upstream and downstream projects."
On Wednesday, the company's new headquarters, located at Al-Butain Tower near Alkhobar's Corniche, was inaugurated by Majed Y. Al-Mugla, vice president, project management, Saudi Aramco. A number of guests and company executives were present on the occasion.
"The formation of Mustang-HDP is the first step, but a major step, in developing a Saudi company providing high-end engineering, design and project management services to Saudi Arabia and clients throughout the region and brings new design capabilities to Mustang in security, telecommunications and architecture," Newcomb said. "Mustang-HDP will next focus on adopting Mustang's engineering and project execution knowledge, tools, and systems with the goal of establishing an office of Engineering Excellence serving the Middle-East region. The new company is well positioned to benefit from the growth within the region's oil and gas industry, especially with the expected new emphasis on offshore development."
Newcomb said the company's breadth of expertise should enable to work on a variety of construction projects.
Mustang-HDP is an engineering and project management service provider for front-end engineering, procurement, and project management for industrial, pipeline, automation security and telecom, and hydrocarbon upstream and downstream projects. Mustang-HDP serves a large number of business sectors including oil & gas, chemical, industrial, power generation, transmission and distribution, water and wastewater and transportation, including commercial and military aviation, he said. "Mustang-HDP has worked closely with governmental agencies and international development funds on public infrastructure projects and has significant experience in architectural and residential housing, health care facilities, and non-industrial building projects."
Newcomb noted the expansion isn't over yet. "After this year we are looking to open two smaller satellite offices in Alkhobar," he said.
