'Kingdom has lost a strong pillar'

Jazan Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Nassir received officials and members of the public who gathered at the governor’s palace to express their grief on hearing the news of the crown prince’s death. Prince Muhammad said the services of the crown prince to Islam and the nation were great and stressed that the sons of King Abdul Aziz would continue their dedicated service to the country.
Qassim Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar received citizens and government officials who flocked to the governor’s palace in Buraidah to offer condolences.
“On behalf of me and on behalf of you all, I offer condolences to King Abdullah, Prince Naif, all other sons of the late King Abdul Aziz, people of the Kingdom and all Arab and Muslim nations,” Prince Faisal said addressing the mourners.
Northern Border Province Gov. Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz expressed his deep sorrow at the death of the crown prince in a statement to the SPA. “With the crown prince’s demise we have lost a strong pillar that supported the Kingdom in its march to modernization and prosperity,” Prince Abdullah said, adding that the crown prince served as the right arm of King Abdullah.
Commending the charity work of the crown prince, the governor said: “Prince Sultan stood on the side of the poor and the needy in the Muslim and Arab world apart from helping the citizens in the Kingdom.”
Eastern Province Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Fahd in his condolence message said Crown Prince Sultan’s achievements and charitable deeds were countless and would remain fresh in people’s memories forever.
“We, citizens and expatriates in the Eastern Province, small and big alike, have been deeply pained by the demise of the crown prince. We offer our condolences to the king, Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Naif, bereaved royal family and the Saudi people and also to the Arab and Muslim world,” he said.
Baha Gov. Prince Meshari bin Saud said in a statement: “Words cannot express our sadness on hearing the news of the death of Prince Sultan, who was a symbol of devoted service to Islam and the Kingdom and whose heart was always with the poor and the unfortunate.”
Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan, son of the late crown prince, received a large number of mourners visiting him at his palace in Tabuk.
Addressing the mourners Prince Fahd said his father sacrificed his life in the service of religion and his country. “Almighty Allah has taken him back to Him, and if He wills he will be rewarded for his noble deeds. I offer condolences to every person in the Kingdom and also to the people of Tabuk, which had a special place in his heart,” Prince Fahd said.
He added that the crown prince brought the armed forces to its present level of efficiency after more than 50 years of service and the crown prince was proud of them.
In a condolence message to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al-Asheikh prayed that Almighty Allah shower the late prince with mercy and forgiveness and grant him rewards for his devoted service to Islam, the Muslims and the country.
Justice Minister Muhammad Al-Eisa said the demise of the prince is a loss not only to the Kingdom but also to the entire Muslim and Arab world.
“The crown prince was known for his political wisdom and wide administrative experience apart from his deep humanitarian sentiments,” Al-Eisa said.
The Chairman of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Abdul Aziz Al-Humain offered his condolences to King Abdullah, Prince Naif and the bereaved royal family and the entire nation.
