The IFRC, an umbrella group for national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world, said Tuesday an unknown number of people are trapped in the buildings following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake.
Authorities say the quake Sunday, on a day when people are more likely at home, has killed at least 366 people and injured some 1,300 others.
IFRC spokesperson Jessica Sallabank told reporters in Geneva the Turkish Red Crescent has mobilized all its units around the country and tallied more than 80 apartment units alone that collapsed in the city of Van.
