You're probably aware of Secure Digital (SD) cards. There are also Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) cards with storage capacity of 4 GB to 32 GB. The latest innovation though in digital storage cards are SDHC cards that have built in Wi-Fi. The Eye-Fi card is the first wireless memory card. It stores media and fits into cameras and more recently portable scanners, just like a regular SDHC card. On top of that, the Eye-Fi card has built-in Wi-Fi that effortlessly transfers photos and videos to your iPhone, iPad, Android device or computer. When setting up the card, tell it which Wi-Fi networks to use or there's Direct Mode which allows the Eye-Fi card to transfer image files directly from a camera or scanner to an iPhone, iPad or Android device. Eye-Fi also has a feature called "Endless Memory" that optimizes card memory by automatically deleting files once they've been transferred. Go to www.eye.fi to see if your digital camera is compatible with an Eye-Fi card.

If everyone could write source code, so many tasks could be automated online. That's exactly what ifttt.com does. Just go to www.ifttt.com and think "if this, then that." For instance, "If I'm tagged in a photo on Facebook, then send me a message." Basically, think of a trigger and then decide what the consequential action to that trigger should be. At ifttt.com, triggers and actions come from channels — and there's a collection of them available. Tasks can be turned on and off but once created they're available instantly. Many tasks have already been put together by other ifttt.com users and organized into "recipes." Just plug your personal information into the recipes and turn on the task. Lots of other sites, such as Facebook and Google, have alert functionalities, but what ifttt.com is offering can be far more sophisticated and it's all in one place.

The Joy Factory's BubbleShield sleeves keep expensive gadgets from becoming filthy or wet. The company offers three size options that fit smartphones, 7-inch devices and tablet computers. Basic protection is certified IPX5 waterproof. BubbleShields are relatively cheap at $20 for a pack of five smartphone covers. That means it's not necessary to worry about keeping the cover clean — just dispose of it when it gets gross. BubbleShield Pro is a more sophisticated cover for tablet computers operated in nasty work environments such as hospitals, warehouses or commercial kitchens. It features a handled carrying bag that includes a three-zip re-sealable enclosure and a transparent protective cover. BubbleShield Pro is certified IPX7 waterproof.

Panasonic is collecting messages of hope from around the world and forming them into virtual "Sakura," or cherry blossom trees to encourage children in disaster hit areas of Japan. Individuals may post inspirational messages at http://panasonic.jp/econavi/sakura/en/ as well as www.facebook.com/PanasonicNewsPortal?sk=app_270059149691863. Each message will be added as a cherry flower to the cherry tree on the website until it is in full bloom. Once the tree reaches full bloom, posters and tapestries of it will be made and presented together with young cherry trees in the spring of 2012 to schools and daycare centers in earthquake and tsunami devastated areas in Japan's Tohoku region.
