The arrests were made in several towns throughout the Balkan country, said senior police official Milorad Veljovic.
Police found weapons, drugs and money while searching the suspects’ homes, Veljovic said.
Also Tuesday, border officials found 12 illegal migrants attempting to cross into Serbia from Macedonia.
The two Afghans and 10 Somalis were hiding in a truck with Macedonian registration plates, the customs officials said.
Serbia and the rest of the Balkans is one of the main transit routes for immigrants from Africa and the Middle East who are seeking to reach the European Union.
Many have sought asylum in Serbia, flooding its centers for asylum seekers. Officials say immigrants most often are trafficked north to Hungary.
Serbia has promised to curb organized crime as the country seeks to move closer to becoming an EU member.
