Navodaya had dedicated this year's festival to well-known Indian music legend Jesudas, who recently completed 50 years as a playback singer. Venmani Ravi read a statement of appreciation commending the singer's contributions.
The festivities began with a group song by the Voice of Navodaya led by Muhammad Shah Alwaye. Mirza Sharief, known as the Jesudas of Jeddah, paid tribute to the great singer and said he was highly influenced by the artist. He performed a number of Jesudas hits.
A visual presentation of Changampuzha Krishnappille’s poem titled “Vazhakkula” by Regha Joy won plaudits. The festival also witnessed a number of traditional and modern oppana dances presented by the organization’s young members.
The live orchestra led by Ben Antony with popular singers such as Sharief, Muhammad Shah and Regha Joy presenting Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil songs enthused the participants. Lamya, Laila, Mustafa, Nooh, Jude and Mathews also entertained the audience with their melodious songs.
Community leader Muhammad Ali Vallanchira was honored during the event, which was presided over Ismail Thodupuzha. V.K.A. Rauf gave the keynote speech and secretary T.P. Latheef welcomed the guests. Shansiya was the anchor while Shibu was the program coordinator.
