Special weekly festivals reminiscent of the Najd traditions and souks are arranged in the town on Thursdays. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has refurbished old buildings retaining their ancient architectural style, The Saudi Press Agency reported. While villagers offer handicrafts manufactured at their homes, a theater stages children’s drama and folk dances and songs.
The local market also offers farm products and tools. The town’s Ousherza mosque is an architectural model of ancient buildings of Najd region.
The head of the local administration said the SCTA has put the village on the national tourist map with special stress on archeological finds. The village is not far from Riyadh and so it is an easy choice for holidaymakers in the capital city to visit it, he said.
