RTJ Transient House made sure it didn’t go home empty-handed after being denied a championship double by winning the OFBC 4 + 1 Friday Afternoon League Season 3 at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.
Hours after it lost the Friday Morning League Season 2 crown to American Garden despite being seeded No. 1 RTJ returned to the lanes and took care of business in the matchup with Red Dragon for the afternoon league title .
With no handicap issues to worry about RTJ bowled exceptionally well to easily win the two-game series format at 1,442-1,338.
Red Dragon was the No. 3 seed in the stepladder finals and needed to win two matches to gain a crack at waiting RTJ — against fourth seed D’ Luf’s Strikers 704-693 in the second match of the stepladder and against No. 2 Carlos Sports Wear 653-639.
The first match had D’ Luf’s beating No. 5 Archie & Co. 764-620.
In the first game of the championship match, RTJ team captain Joel Nidoy led by example to shoot scratch game of 182 that along with 157 by team manager Rudy “RJ” Jamon, 135 by Ed Cordova and 126 by Kristhea Mae Busico propelled their team to a winning total of 690 as against 677 by Red Dragon.
Cordova found his line in the second game and carded 215 and with Nidoy consistent on 181 RTJ won with plenty to spare 752-661. Jamon added 132 and Busico 134. Hadi Pacheco, Jack Jarin and Malou Nidoy are the other members of the champion team.
The awarding ceremony followed the championship match in which 65-year old grandma Fuly S. Primo was heard saying: “Thanks God. Better late than never” after being presented with the Most Valuable Player award in the ladies division.
Special awards for both male and female bowlers were awarded in the following categories: High game scratch Cesar Pagtalunan and Malou Nidoy, high game with handicap Jojo Esperanzate and Mildred Florentino, high series scratch Joel Nidoy and Fatima Jintarat, high series with handicap Jhun Estefano and Fuly S. Primo, highest average Jhun Estefano and Malou Nidoy, Most Valuable Player Joel Nidoy and Fuly S. Primo.
The OPBC-FML Season 4 will start June 6, according to organizers.
