At last, high school disabled student Aboud Al-Aboud from Aflaj received Saturday the long-awaited gift of a $80,000 American special vehicle (NV1): a purposed-built, universally accessible car from MENA Mobility Solutions branch in Dubai.
Al-Aboud will also be getting a lifetime SR3,000 monthly salary from Saden Al Araba Group (SAG) while the same group granted a SR1 million ambulance to the Disabled Children Association (DCA) as a gesture from the company’s president on the occasion of the accession to the throne of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
The president and CEO of the US-based company, Brendan McGuiness, traveled all the way from Dubai to hand over the special vehicle to Al-Aboud during an event organized by SAG in Riyadh. The event was attended by officials from the DCA and members of the local media.
“Al-Aboud is the luckiest disabled child! We give much thanks to his school administration, to the media, including Sabq.org, Arab News, Saden Al-Araba Holding Group, and of course Mobility Solutions for their generosity and care shown toward my son”, said Aboud’s father, who was present at the ceremony.
He said: "I and my family will not forget this humanitarian gesture that will help my son attend his school in an easy and comfortable manner."
McGuiness said: “It is a great pleasure to meet with Aboud and his family, and to see the joy on this young man's face when he saw the car here. It is a happy day for me, too, therefore.”
He described the gesture as rewarding for him, saying: "This is something personal for me in the sense that I have long relationship with Saudi Arabia, almost 40 years, and have a lot of close friends in this country. I’ve been very lucky in this country and it has been very kind to me, to say the least”.
“To give back a little gesture to this deserving young man was very easy for us and for my company in America,” he said, adding: "I read Arab News every morning after my breakfast, and when I saw the story in November along with the picture, and saw the boy traveling 10 km every day on wheelchair, it prompted me to take quick action".
He continued: "I spoke with my business partner in Dubai and within 30 seconds we decided to do it, and we are very happy that we are part of the event today because of this choice."
On his part, SAG President Fouzi Sabri said that in the simple gesture on the occasion of King Salman's the accession to the throne, the company granted an ambulance valued at SR1 million to the Disabled Children Association, in addition to special computers for the them and a lifetime monthly salary for Aboud.
“This is a simple gesture in expressing our huge delight. King Salman is a man of generosity who always encourages us to do such humanitarian work,” he said, adding that "we hope to see the community show generosity, cooperation and help toward each other."
