MAKKAH: The Saudi Public Transport Company has banned two minor Arab girls from traveling in SAPTCO buses because they became a nuisance for male and female co-passengers during their journey from Madinah to Makkah on Thursday.
At 11 a.m., the passengers of the Madinah service were surprised when the two girls removed their abayas and exposed their heads, an online newspaper reported.
They started playing songs on their mobile phones and talking loudly. This angered a number of passengers. It was later found out that there was no attendant with the duo.
The SAPTCO found their act against public conduct.
Abdur Rahman Abu Ali, director general of SAPTCO, said the ban has created a lot of confusion, but this was the only decision the management could take.
The two could not be disciplined when they indulged in vulgarity and disorderly conduct, because they could target drivers with a complaint of harassment later.
Abu Ali said that public transport companies in various regions try to ensure good public conduct between its passengers and does not allow any immoral acts onboard. In such a situation, the company warns the violator.
The SAPTCO has launched an investigation.
