This is with reference to the report “4 car drifters arrested” (June 29). It is very important to take strong action against these drifters. Some social problems cannot be solved through awareness or education. Boys will be boys and they will always try to do something adventurous. If it is not car drifting then they will try to do something else.
The best way to check this problem is to impose heavy fines and legal action against the culprits and their fathers. The reason why fathers should also be punished is that in order to perform these stunts, a vehicle has to be modified, which is expensive. I refuse to accept that a youngster could afford to do those modifications on his own.The authorities should devise strict laws to prevent this practice, as it is harmful to the drifters and other motorists as well. — Rashid Jamal, Jubail
