RIYADH: The Interior Ministry urged all citizens to exercise caution and not fall victim to the gangs of fraudsters ready to blackmail them through social networking sites for therapeutic or commercial goals.
The director of the General Administration of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Abdullah Almraol, said that the ministry received from the Foreign Ministry several complaints that a number of Saudi women were subject to extortion by some people in Turkey and a number of other countries who used social media to serve their despicable goals.
He said that the Interior Ministry urges all citizens to exercise caution and not be deceived by any advertisement or site on the Internet aimed at earning money illegally.
