MAKKAH: A woman and her 24-year-old daughter lost their lives after their car got submerged under water in the Qanona Valley, east of Al-Laith governorate, recently.
Four other members of the family were rescued by the Civil Defense personnel and an Egyptian expatriate. Among those rescued were a man, two girls and a 15-year-old boy.
The two women were swept away by the waters in the valley and their bodies were found the following day, Col. Saeed Sarhan, official spokesman for the Civil Defense in Makkah, told local media.
“The search operation, which drew a blank as it turned dark, resumed the following day, in which Civil Defense teams, security planes and several citizens from the valley participated,” he said.
“A volunteer found the two women’s bodies about 8 km away from the spot where the car had submerged,” said Sarhan.
