King Fahd Center in Sarajevo to expand activities for Bosnians

RIYADH: Secretary-General of the Council of Trustees of the King Fahd Cultural Center in Sarajevo Dr. Abdul Majeed Al-Geith said that the center has a magnificent history, royal mission, and a noble goal to spread the great message of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to Saudi Press Agency.
He expressed his thanks and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his historic and major efforts to take care of this important cultural bridge and fruitful cooperation in the cultural, educational and religious areas in the land of the Balkans in general, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular.
Dr. Abdul Majeed Al-Geith made the statement on the sidelines of the first meeting of the council of trustees of the King Fahd Cultural Center in Sarajevo, held on Thursday at the headquarters of the center in Sarajevo.
He said that in the meeting, the achievements of the center and its activities between 1/1 and 23/10/1437H were discussed. The issues mentioned on the agenda were also discussed, including the annual plan of programs and activities of the King Fahd Cultural Center for the year 1437-1438H.
The council approved the annual plan of programs and activities of the center and its branch in Mostar. It also approved the proposal of adding activities and summer programs. It also decided to continue organizing diverse programs during the period to serve the Bosnian society and that of other Balkan countries.
There was also an agreement in principal to set up a scientific library and a center for research and translation as well as an study to build a permanent cultural center in the heart of the city Sarajevo in coordination with the embassy.
Al-Gheith said that the council, in its first meeting, also passed a number of recommendations including a work plan for the council of trustees. It also decided to make a five-year plan for the center’s activities, and would also focus on weak points as well as strengths which would help it making this plan.
The council of trustees will meet at least once a year and the next meeting would be held in July 2017.
