RIYADH: The Shoura Council has filed a report with higher authorities regarding the traffic monitoring by the automated system of Saher.
Saud Humaid Al-Subaie, a member of the consultative body, has revealed this.
The report stresses the importance of assigning a neutral body to check the devices continuously to make sure the cameras work properly.
Al-Subaie said cameras could not be accurate. He said they could make mistakes in the Kingdom because of rising temperatures, changing weather conditions and dust, unlike in other countries.
He said the company that operates Saher has no mechanism and technology to conduct regular inspections of the devices. He stressed the importance of presenting reports that verify the accuracy of the system.
He said a neutral company should be set up under the supervision of the Interior Ministry to ensure the accuracy of the system.
Technical expert Ali Al-Ahmari said Saher cameras’ performance is affected by the sun, whose strong reflection in vehicles’ registration plates might result in wrong results.
