CAIRO: Technical studies revealed that the launch of a new marine line from Maqna Port in Tabuk, and Dahab in southern Sinai will decrease the travel time from Saudi Arabia to Egypt to only 30 minutes; the line will be used for touristic and entertainment purposes.
The Red Sea Port Authority, under the presidency of Hisham Abu Sinna, received an offer from Saudi investors to operate a regular tourist path between the two cities.
Brig. Gen. Hisham Abu Sinni said negotiations are under way, but studies point to the possibility of implementing the project by the end of this year. The project is expected to cost between 70 million and 100 million Egyptian pounds. He pointed that this marine line will decrease travel time to 30 minutes and will contribute to enriching tourism from Saudi Arabia to resorts in southern Sinai, especially to Dahab and Sharm El-Sheikh.
The spokesman for the Red Sea Port Authority said the commission received applications form companies and investors, as well as Saudi businessmen, to set up this new line to enhance tourist movement between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
According to studies, this line will be used by the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, of which the governments of Egypt, Iraq and Jordan participated in the capital.
There are eight Egyptian ports on the Red Sea coast, all of which work in the field of transporting goods and passengers between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
