WASHINGTON: Actor George Clooney would like to get big money out of politics — so he doesn’t have to raise it.

Clooney hosted two weekend fundraisers in California on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Donations at an event in San Francisco topped out at $353,000 per couple, which Clooney acknowledges is an “obscene amount of money.”

In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Clooney notes that the event drew pro-Bernie Sanders demonstrators. The actor says that when he went to talk with them, they called him a corporate shill.

Clooney calls that “one of the funnier things you could say about me.”

Some of them wore T-shirts saying he was a terrible Batman in the 1997 movie “Batman & Robin.” On that, Clooney says, they have a point.
