Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone is busy with her “Finding Fanny” trip and frankly, this quirky English language story has indeed appealed to a niche audience. In fact, after the release on Friday, Sept. 12, “Finding Fanny” has managed to collect approximately 19 crore rupees in first three days.

The promotions for “Finding Fanny,” did create a buzz. It was conducted in an unusual way — with its actors paying surprise visits to people’s homes in many cities to find Fanny Fernandes. Besides, the lead pair Arjun Kapoor and Deepika were seen on many popular TV shows like — Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, where she did not hesitate to show off some moves on the Shake your Bootiya song; and the two made an appearance on Yo Yo Honey Singh’s music reality show — Raw Star. “Finding Fanny” promotions continued on daily soaps too, as the lead stars turned up on the sets of Yeh Hai Mohabattein.

On the other side Sonam Kapoor is also leaving no stone unturned for her next film — “Khubsoorat,” the 80s hit is all set to hit the screens. But, from what we hear, the diva of Bollywood — Rekha, isn’t too pleased with Sonam and Rhea Kapoor for remaking her film “Khubsoorat,” and despite sharing a close relationship with the girls’ parents — Anil and Sunita Kapoor, Rekha chose to leave it to the filmmakers to oversee the required permission details. Reportedly, she is not too kicked about the results. But, the buzz is that she has unleashed her marketing gimmicks to weave their magic.

To make up for losing out on her iconic character of Manju of “Khubsoorat,” she has asked the team of her film “Super Nani” to ask the “Khoobsurat” team to attach the trailer “Super Nani” along with Sonam’s film! This initiative will remind audiences about Rekha in her earlier film, while actually watching her in her new avatar — as a great-grandmother!

In “Khoobsurat” Sonam will enact the role of Rekha as a vivacious, free-spirited young girl whereas the Pakistani actor Fawad Khan will play the role of actor Rakesh Roshan. The film is set in a royal era so fans can see Fawad in a regal look; the film also stars Kirron Kher and Ratna Pathak Shah.

However, prior work commitments will keep actor Sonam Kapoor away from the promotions of “Khoobsurat” in Pakistan, the homeland of her co-star Fawad Khan. As she put it, she would love to visit Pakistan sometime in the near future.

The premiere of “Khoobsurat” falls on the same day in both Pakistan and India — Sept. 19. “I was going to Pakistan (earlier). But [now] I am recording a message and I am doing as many (interviews with) Pakistani media as I can to promote the film,” she said.

Sonam is indeed, very eager to visit Pakistan. “I really, really want to go. My forefathers are from Peshawar and my mom’s side of the family comes from Karachi. So there is so much of a connection… I am just a second generation Indian,” Sonam said. So, determined as she is, Sonam plans to make her presence felt, despite her absence from the film’s promotions.

As history had it, in 2007 the mega clash between “Om Shanti Om” and “Saawariya” saw the debutante Deepika Padukone emerge a clear box-office winner against first-timer Sonam Kapoor. Now, seven years later, the question is — will history be repeated? Will Deepika continue reign the ladder of success with “Finding Fanny” or will Sonam take a lead this time with “Khoobsurat“?

The release of both the films are within a week’s time this month. Deepika’s film has released on Sept. 12, while Sonam’s new offering hits the screens on Sept. 19. And, what we can clearly see is that both actresses are going the extra mile — to ensure their movies create enough noise!
