MUMBAI: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was hospitalized on Saturday morning, is recovering well, said Dr. Jalil Parkar at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

The actor was admitted to a hospital on early Saturday after he complained of respiratory problems. He had a fever on Friday and vomited few times, after which he was shifted to Lilavati Hospital for respiratory problems at 2.00 am.

Though he has been shifted out of the ICU, doctors are keeping a close watch on him due to his age. He is 93. Saira Banu, the actor’s wife, said in a statement: “Dilip Saab was admitted to Lilavati Hospital for treatment of high fever and chest infection on April 15 night. He was advised intravenous administration of antibiotics for speedy recovery.

Oral drugs would not act as fast as the IV injections, the doctors advised. Hence it became necessary to shift him to the hospital. He is recovering well and is stable by the grace of God and the care of doctors treating him. He is in a room in the hospital and not in the ICU as spread by rumors.”
