As you have often been advised not to count on others because external help is uncertain and, possibly, unreliable what conclusion have you reached on the matter?
Probably, that the above advice does not correspond to the reality of life. You have in fact seen that nowadays in order to move ahead in a significant way, people need to rely on the recommendation of an important personage to get the contract, references to get the job, a guarantee from a third party to be granted a loan etc.
It is true, our world seems unable to move in a straight way. It needs to take side lanes, always using the link to something or someone.
On the other hand, we do not deny that at times you are lucky enough to meet a few (very few!) human beings in the course of your life who really care for you in a selfless way, who genuinely want to be of help. A sort of guardian angels? Maybe.
Nevertheless all these external contributing circumstances, although certainly valid and useful, are not decisive. What counts most is the support you can give yourself.
This personal, intimate help is summarized in three words: Willpower, determination and trust. If you don’t have a deep desire to reach your purpose with consequent will to pursue your aim, you are unable to use all the energy necessary because — being your mind distracted by other ideas — your destination will not be clearly visible on the far horizon. Determination is needed in order to move forward without being misled by secondary or additional goals, by discouraging words, by dangerous thoughts of failure.
Finally, you need trust, i.e. the deep belief that you have the capacity to carry out your plan because your skill, ability, value are real. They can be put into action and make you achieve positive results.
As, in order to build something new, you need to give up or discard old stuff, it is time for you to let go of certain ideas and convictions you have been holding onto for a long time.
Although some of them are useful, try to think of all the ones that have only been a heavy burden you have carried for many years without realizing it. Every negative thought, every belief that makes you behave arrogantly or aggressively, that makes you feel a victim, a loser, must be disposed of.
Every time you are convinced that you are right and everyone else is wrong or you judge someone else by using ideas stored in the negative side of your mind.
Drop this heavy burden, accept the truth, i.e. that you have no right to judge another human being according to your mentality, that you have no right to humiliate another as well as yourself.
If you decide to minimize the adverse situations presented to you by Life, instead of creating bigger problems by blowing them out of proportion and keeping mulling over them, you realize that their importance will gradually shrink in front of your eyes, will diminish and reach a more acceptable size.
Imagine yourself as if you were carrying a sack on your shoulder. It is heavy because it is full of rocks, “useless” rocks. They represent your negative thoughts. If you want to, you can become aware of the fact that every time you think, say or do something negative, you are adding extra rocks to the metaphorical sack you are carrying and, therefore, you are voluntarily hurting yourself.
On the other hand, every time you refrain from uttering a harsh word, every time you make a deed of love, you make your “burden” lighter. If you really want it and commit yourself to the job, you can gradually eliminate most of the “rocks” that, till now have prevented you from moving forward more quickly. You will also be able to enjoy life moment by moment because your path becomes easier to walk on. Your existence becomes easier to deal with.
