MUMBAI: Bollywood star Rani Mukerji is expecting, according to reports by the India media. The actress, who secretly married filmmaker Aditya Chopra last year, is reportedly in her second trimester and is expected to give birth next year, the Hindustan Times said.

The daily quotes a Mumbai-based tabloid saying Mukerji’s sister-in-law confirmed the news. “Yes, Rani is pregnant,” the TV actor Jyoti Mukerji reportedly told the tabloid.

Rumors of the actress’ pregnancy have been around for a while. Mukerji, 37, and her husband have not confirmed the news.

Rani had said in an interview in July this year, she saw herself doing “kick-ass films” and having “lovely babies beside me as I go to the set” in five years.

She also added that she was not interested in doing the roles she did earlier in her career, “It’s embarrassing for a 37-year-old to do the roles she did in her twenties,” said Rani to India Today, “I’m not delusional. I’m conscious of what the audience wants to see me in.”
