BEIRUT: The documentary film on the life of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, part-produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, will close the Beirut International Film Festival on Oct. 15.

’He Named Me Malala’ is directed by Oscar-winner Davis Guggenheim, and looks at Yousafzai’s life as a young girl, being attacked by the Taliban and her close relationship with her father, who inspired her to pursue education, while showing us intimate glimpses of her everyday life with her parents and brothers.

The film has already received positive reviews from showings at Telluride and Toronto film festivals.

The film will be accompanied internationally by a social action campaign ‘Stand #withMalala’. The campaign will invite people everywhere to take part in a range of activities from pledging support online to hosting screenings to signing petitions focused on funding, protecting and measuring girls’ education.
