Guess what’s creating a buzz in B-town? It’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Here, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone will perform lavani together, touted to be crucial to the film’s climax.

And, how did this news leak? The lid (read:lead) in this story was uncovered by none other than ‘Kashibai’ aka Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka had just finished shooting for her ABC show ‘Quantico’ in US, and was back in Mumbai, to resume shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next — ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

Priyanka had tweeted, “Off to rehearsals!!! Let’s kill it @deepikapadukone ..along with our legs!! Haha.. #BajiraoMastani.” And, we heard that ace-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is apparently upset with Pee Cee for spilling the beans.

Though the ‘MaryKom’ star revealed it to the world that the two heroines were shooting a song together, Bhansali, probably wanted to keep this face-off a secret. In his true fashion, he didn’t want the information to go out. But, on second thoughts, could that actually have been possible? Especially, since the song was shot outdoors. Now, it could follow that filmmakers may ban phones on the sets but, can they have control over an actor’s social media activities?

Only Sanjay Leela Bhansali can orchestrate such memorable, extravagant dance/song numbers. Remember the now-famous song sequence in ‘Devdas’ — ‘Dola re’? In fact, an excited Madhuri Dixit, who featured in ‘Dola re’, is looking forward to Priyanka and Deepika’s dance in SLB’s magnum opus when it hits the screens.

“Anything about dance always excites me, so I am very, very excited to see Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone’s lavni dance in ‘Bajirao Mastani’,” Madhuri said during an announcement of a dance festival. 

Priyanka Chopra will be in a typical Maharashtrian avatar. She will be playing the role of the actor’s first wife Kashibai in the film, that depicts the era of the Maratha rule.

Being a period drama, the former beauty queen will be seen donning traditional avatar which will comprise of nauvaris (Maharashtrian nine yard sarees). Moreover, she will also be wearing heavy jewelry which includes a nose ring called the ‘nath’. Buzz is that Anju Modi, who has styled Priyanka Chopra’s look in the film, has traveled to various locations like Ajanta-Ellora caves and Paithan in Aurangabad (famous for Paithani sarees) — in order to create the perfect look of Kashibai. To research on the jewelry she would use for the film, she also visited Shivaji Museum in Pune.

Bearing in mind that Pee Cee will be playing a role of a confident and strong woman, Anju decided to use bright colors like — marigold yellow, varied shades of pink, blood red, ivory among others. Modi also picked up different kinds of nathnis and shelas.

‘Bajirao Mastani’ is slated for release on Christmas this year, according to insider reports. This means it will clash with Rohit Shetty’s Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer — ‘Dilwale’. Two mega films will tune in at the same time, but can both mint money at the box office.
